G'day mate!

I am in Australia! This is the morning of my 3rd day here and I already am in love with the country! Heres a little bit of what has happened in our first couple of days...

After over 20 hours on a plane, we arrived in Melbourne at 8am on July 3rd (lost a day with the time change). Emily, an Aussie who I met in the States) came & greeted us in the airport. Even after hugging her over and over it was hard to believe that one, I was in Australia, and two, that I was seeing her again! We took a bus ride into the city and arrived at our hostel. It is really nice (http://www.friendlygroup.com.au/greenhouse_home.asp) and is going to feel more like home after we can really settle in. After unpacking and going through an orientation about the city & culture we went to dinner at Toto (Italian place) which is on Lygon St. Since we were sleep deprived it became a very interesting dinner with random conversations and lots of laughter over little things.

Yesterday was July 4th here and one of our lovely friends Emily threw us a party! She made apple pie & even had sparklers! We got to meet some of the Aussies that are involved in the movement here and whatched some Aussie rules Footie...very intense. We are all currently decideing which teams to cheer for (I'm leaning towards the Cats, or Geelong).

Today we are off to MYC (Mid-Year Conference) where a good portion of the students involved in the Student Life movement in both Sydney and Melbourne will be. This is our chance to form friendship with the students who will be helping us when we are at the Unis (Universities). Better go get some breakky (breakfast)! Cherrio!

  1. Did they take you all grocery shopping while you were sleep-walking/ getting used to being in a different time zone? Joe would tell you to look for the signs that say "Great Deal" and buy some pita bread. haha. enjoy and I look forward to reading more about the trip

  4. Do you have an address where I can send letters? Or can I send them to Emily or something? And what's your international phone number, just in case?

Love you! (And miss you already.)

  6. we only had a couple of days before MYC so no grocery shopping...we lucked out cause they provided food for us and Emily gave us 4th of July party with tons of food.

We are going to see a Collingwood game. Emily descibed the fans as "farrel, like farrel cats in human form...except Joy"

Dan & I are going for Collingwood, not sure who else is on our side yet.

Lopi- you can send things to me through Emily..just address it to:
