Outreach in the City

This past week we have been doing a lot of training, orientations and planning to what we will be doing on campus this coming week. It took a whole day to tour the campuses we are going to be working on. There is Melboure Uni and RMIT City which are in the city and very close to where we are staying and then RMIT Bundoora and La Trobe which are further out in the outskirts of Melbourne.

The team was diveded up into groups of three or four to organize and plan an outreach for the different unis. My group, Evan, Bess & I, are in charge of planning for LaTrobe. Here they have a small movement which very few guys. Our hope is by playing a couple of sports out on a field (along with a snack area, cards, etc) we will gain more male contacts. We are also going to have posters with the words 'love' 'sin' 'renewal' and 'sacrifice' were students can write down whatever they feel about those words. This will help us get into more spiritual conversations. One of our goals is to make the presence of Student Life known to the students, especially the Christians who might not be plugged in yet.

We experienced our first footy game last night, Collingwood Magpies vs. the Hawthron Hawks. I go for the Magpies, who sadly lost. Still a blast though, hoping to go again to the Colllingwood vs Carlton game next week.

As we go into our first real week of Uni ministry I am excited to get on campus and meet with the students. Be praying for the conversations that we are going to be having with students. We will be at RMIT City Monday & Tuesday where there is a real spiritual battle happening on the campus. Pray that we may reach the lost and speak truth into peoples lives.

  1. Hey Nicole, It sound like your having fun and connecting with people. We had a good time at Emerald Isle but really missed our "beach girl".
    See you soon.
    Love you,
    Dad
