MYC & meeting the movement

We just got back yesterday afternoon from MYC or Mid-Year Conference. This is a time when the students involved in Student Life (the Campus Crusade for Christ ministry here) from New South Whales (Sydney) and Vistoria (Melbourne) come together. The motto for the vision is:
'Buliding Movements so that everyone knows someone who truley follows Jesus'

This is the reason we are here, to help encourage and build the young but egar movements in Melbourne. We want to involve the students and teach them the importance of sharing thier faith and get them comfortable about getting into spiritualy conversations and how they can live as Christians in a broken world. MYC gave training and talks about evangilsm and I felt that the students are excited about coming along with us to reach lost students at thier Unis (universities).

MYC was a great expereince because not only did we get to meet a heap of new people but we got an intamite look into Christian and Aussie culture. There is a lot more apathy to religion then in America...or at least people are more honest about it here. It was great to here from new Christians and to hear what they though about Christianity before, why they became Christians and what they were going through as new believers. As much as we are here to tell people who havn't heard or have surpressed thinking about spiritual things, we are also here to build up those in Student Life.

Despite it being winter the weather is wonderful here. More like an American fall than a winter. We were able to explore the countryside (where MYC was held) and saw not one, not two, but nine kagaroos across the street on a hill during freetime! That is one thing I wanted to be able to do and God blessed us, despite the rare chance!

Going into our time on the Unis, please be praying for the hearts of those we are going to meet. Pray for the new and young Christians who are figuring out what it means to be a Christian and for those who have been inspired to share thier faith but, like any of us, are hit with feelings of fear, rejection and that they cant do it. Pray for the our team, that we remain strong and open with each other. Thanks!

With you,
Nicole

  2. Hi Nicole!
Sydni just shared your blogspot with me. This is so great! You are an excellent writer and you've answered all my "mom" questions...about what you all have been doing. So, thank you for taking time out of your busy days to write in your blog. I definitely appreciate it!
It's very exciting to be back in the US reading your blog and imaging what Australia looks like, smells like and tastes like! What a life-impacting experience for all of you.
We'll be stepping up the prayers for everyone since you will begin your campus ministry this coming week. Please tell our son we said "g'day!" and we love him very much!
Love you, too girl! Take care and God bless you all and the Aussies!
    Mrs. G
